Alexia Vernikou

Family Therapist

Alexia Vernikou is a licensed family therapist and an associate of Multidisciplinary Cancer Care (MCC).

She has worked as a therapist for children and adolescents with emotional and developmental disabilities in schools, hospitals and rehabilitation centers in New York City. She specializes in Systemic Family Therapy and has worked with children on the autism spectrum and adults with severe mental disorders, and their families. In 2015, she was trained in the Training Program of Merimna for managing loss and grief in children and adolescents. In 2017, the children's book she co-authored, entitled "Up to Heaven and Back," was published by Ikaros Publications, which deals with death and loss from the perspective of a young child.

Alexia Vernicou studied Psychology and Art at the College of the Holy Cross in the U.S. and continued with postgraduate studies at the School of Education at New York University in the U.S., where she specialized in Visual Psychotherapy.

She is a member of the Scientific Committee of Together for Children.
